Things that make you go Squee.

Two quotes, one very quotable from someone of whom I had no knowledge and one more understated from this year's winner of the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for poetry [youtube link].

Michelle Taransky of Jacket Magazine is said to be writing a full review but says this thus far:
I just received ONE LAST DITCH today and it's just lovely.

"when Chicago was far enough/not to imagine or only to.  which"

what an opening.  heartbreaking and energizing--- and strange.  I am hooked.

Whereas Rae Armantrout writes to Lyn:
I just feel moved to say that Erik Schneider is really good.

::does Homer Simpson happy dance::

Still waiting to hear from Patti. :)

And the book is still for sale, too, from my blog. Just sayin'. If you are local you can save on shipping and coax me out for coffee or ice cream--the latter if you would like your book hand-delivered to an unfogged location.

I think I might read out tomorrow. On the street, I mean. Watch this space if you think you might be wandering around the Mission at bar time. I usuall try to stand in the Wells Fargo entryway at 22nd and Mission unless someone is sleeping there; then I move down the street someplace just south of Foreign Cinema wherever I can find light and relative quiet.

You know Ron Silliman read Ketjak in the early eighties or maybe that was the late seventies at Powell and Market. At that turn around of the cable cars and where Woolworth's used to be. So, in a sense, you are following in that narrowly laid faintly held "tradition" in the making.

I am thrilled that you have gotten these kudos Erik and from RAE ARMANTROUT! DANG!!!! She is one of my favorite poets!

Yes, we should go for coffee, once life is not so weird for me. I am having some roommate issues and money issues (you know how that can be) but next month for sure. It has been too long and I will buy a book and you can sign it! I am thrilled.

I know!!! I emailed Lyn back saying Oh my god I'm a total fanboy of her writing and on and on and made a fool of myself but it was really cool. She posted Lyn from her iPhone. She must have been reading it right then!

::breathes::

Ping me anytime you'd like for coffee. Beginning of the month--any month--is better for me moneywise now that I'm on the govmint roll. But I'm almost always free although sometimes at odd hours. :)

Edited to add:
Oh I meant to ask if you have read any of the Grand Piano series of books that Lyn, Armantrout, Kit Robinson, Ron Silliman, and six other obvious names are writing as a collaborative autobiography. I have a couple and think they are fascinating. City Lights has them. Dunno about anyone else. Highly recommended!
