Feministe alerts us to the decision by the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles to deny clemency for Troy Davis. At Amnesty International one can find links and suggestions for public protest and action between now and September 23, the execution date set by the Board.

They also provide links where you can read more about his case. In brief, he maintains his innocence while seven of nine eye-witnesses have recanted or contradicted their testimony, some saying they were coerced by police into testifying against Davis. Some reports say that the eye-witness testimony given in the original trial was conflicting and that Davis' representation did not have the time or resources to adequately defend him. There is no physical evidence linking Davis to the shooting; no murder weapon was recovered.

Read for yourself and decide whether or not to join Amnesty International in fighting this execution to the very end.
