sinking feeling

I do hope that this doesn't mean LJ is going to crumble to little pieces in the near future. I've archived most of my posts through about last November, so finishing that job is not a big deal but this place has become so complex in the various connections I keep here that losing it would be a life-altering semi-catastrophe.

just for future reference, I also hang out, sort of, on facebook. same nick. if LJ craps out, I'll at least post as to my whereabouts over there. I'd appreciate it if you all would tell me what your other virtual homes are, or at least the hotels you occasionally stay in for a couple of days at a time.

i just got in from being not-in and was fixin' to post much like this. once i had lots of writing stored at Themestream. when it suddenly went belly-up, i lost pieces that i hadn't backed up. (i was dumb.) i have almost everything stored now from LJ, but still, if it goes down, i'll be so heart-broken. it's been a real home for 7 years now.

Yeah, this is a bummer. Facebook is fine if all you want to know about people is a one line status update, but I'll be upset if I can't post my meaningless ramblings every now and then.

Aaag. :(

I think we know where to find each other 'round here (not that wonderful porch yet though).

So, how do you go about archiving an entire journal? I've been here 8 years! Uuuuggghh!

I'm wondering the exact same thing.

there's also LJBook. seems to be running a bit slow. I wonder why. :/

Wow, doesn't sound good. There's deadjournal, which is essentially a mirror to livejournal but it's not free to join unless you get an invite code from someone.

There is also something called "Insane journal". I will be archiving today. You never know!

I agree with the poster you linked to Erik. These people don't know what they have if they are letting it go like that. This is really a nifty little creation, that is quite powerful, and if revenue is the issue, there are ways to fix that without putting in a skeleton crew. I do hope our fears are not warranted.

As you know, I'm on Facebook too, we're friends. That is nice, but it is a whole different thing.
