I had never heard of Angel Island until early this year. Someone said that it was like Ellis Island in a way. People came from Asia through Angel Island whereas people came from Europe through Angel Island.
yes. what they don't often tell you is that Asians were interned on Angel Island, sometimes for months, whereas Europeans were let right through to the city.
many of the structures are still there, but mostly, Angel Island is being reclaimed by oak and deer.
Looks very nice. I never want to leave when I go camping. I haven't been in a while. I'd like to go this year if I can figure some way to rig up a battery for my blower.
coming back from this was almost more painful than coming back from further away, because I spent much of my time looking back over at the city and thinking how can it be right there and yet so distant? I'll post some stitched panoramas later today I think, so you can see how close I was to home.
yeah I guess camping with the machine could be cumbersome. I wonder if there would be any way to power it with solar batteries.
