I am now on the ground in Seattle and because I have been sleeping completely ad-hoc hours I feel jet lagged. partially this comes from sedating myself and the adrenaline rush that still manages to creep through all that on takeoff and landing, but it also has something to do with having been up since 3am.

it seems to be time to nap. I am not yet used to the idea of being on "vacation," although I think I have to pick up at least a couple of editing jobs while I am here.

breakfast was trail mix and fizzy water. not bad, really. later I'll walk to whole foods. I have lisagail's place to myself most of the day as she had to go in to work after picking me up. she's working into the evening so I get to pretend I live here and do whatever the hell I want.

laundry. that's one thing I'm going to do. I did bring clean underwear but the outerwear I brought is getting a bit skeezy.

so, um, you all can put the plane down now. thanks for your help!

i'm glad to know you're there! hope you get some rest and your body acclimates quickly. also hope you find those editing jobs.

well I slept almost all day yesterday and then slept again from midnight to 7am. you'd think that'd be enough, but I'm still sleepy! once in a very great while I wake up and feel rested for hours afterwards. I have no idea what the variables are and so cannot replicate this experience at will. it's kind of annoying!

all I have to do for the editing jobs is mark myself as "available" for assignments. I haven't done that quite yet but should by tomorrow.

put the plane down?
Really? Are you sure? Because I'm happy to keep holding it up forever... Oh -- I guess that wouldn't be so good either, huh? ;-D

Hope you have a nice time in Seattle. Nod toward my old high-rise for me if you find yourself in the vicinity of First Hill (I lived in one of a set of two old buildings -- eleven floors high -- on 8th Avenue, just in front of Virginia Mason Hospital). That was the place I called home from 1990 to 1995.

Re: put the plane down?
yes I sometimes forget to mention that a gentle landing when we get to Seattle is also part of the goal. holding it up till they ran out of food would probably be ok, but after that..

I didn't know you had lived in Seattle! I was here from 87-96. I've actually been in San Francisco longer now, but I still feel like I partially live here. I used to visit an average of four times a year but this year I haven't been able to afford to come up.

in Seattle
Wow, I guess it's even possible we met sometime in the early 90s!

I think I've only been back once in 14 years, even though I have some family there.

Re: in Seattle
it's possible! we had a band called Infamous Menagerie around the time the music industry was cannibalizing Seattle. they didn't like the way we tasted, which is just as well, really.

we used to go see the Seattle Choral Company because my uncle sang with them. they would perform the Carmina Burana every New Year's Eve at the Fifth Avenue Theatre. they don't still do that, unfortunately. it was fun.

I'll keep you posted. right now I just feel like laying low. last week sort of wore me out with anxiety. :/

say if you all want to hear lisagail sing with her chorus on Sunday night, let me know. we have a bunch of tickets to sell. :) you can find out a little more about it here.

Welcome back
The weather has been grand, unless you need the water for your squash like me.

Hope you have a good time.

Re: Welcome back
yeah I'd actually have been happy with a little rain, myself, although it is good to see the mountains. er, when you can see them.
