Why do people get bent out of shape about unknown callers calling their cellphones? Especially if no message is left, thus incurring no time or money spent wasted on collecting a useless message?

Maybe some people use their phones differently from the way I do (no! could it be??), but if I see "Unknown" or an unrecognizable number on my screen, I hit the Ignore button. That's all I have to do. I should be grateful to them for making me get the thumb exercise, don't you think? Or am I likely to develop repetitive stress injuries from repeatedly not answering my phone?

I don't get the furor.

We were getting an unknown call *daily* and at like 8 AM for a week, I finally answered and it was Verizon or something and I told them to leave me alone. It's infuriating if you have to chase around the house to find the phone (at 8 AM) and discover it's that same unknown idiot calling AGAIN. Anyhow, that's my experience. Not a lot of people have my number so I presume it is important when my cell rings.

ah. see I keep my cellphone next to me on my desk or in my pocket. and unless I am expecting one of the five people in the world I will pick up for, I ignore all callers while sleeping. I never ever go searching for my phone; if it's not nearby, it's no one I want to talk to, or if it is someone surprise calling me, they'll leave a message because they know I don't plan for surprises.

it used to be that only friends had my cell number but since I've made it my primary phone it has gotten out to gods know where. but the fact that there are five people I'll pick up for hasn't changed. I guess people do use their phones differently from the way I do. hard to imagine! ;)
