Why do people get bent out of shape about unknown callers calling their cellphones? Especially if no message is left, thus incurring no time or money spent wasted on collecting a useless message?

Maybe some people use their phones differently from the way I do (no! could it be??), but if I see "Unknown" or an unrecognizable number on my screen, I hit the Ignore button. That's all I have to do. I should be grateful to them for making me get the thumb exercise, don't you think? Or am I likely to develop repetitive stress injuries from repeatedly not answering my phone?

I don't get the furor.

I think these people are getting calls on land lines as well - I've gone to a similar site to check out a number that was repeatedly calling me.

I am one of these people that gets in a furor. I get dozens of these calls on my land line. I always ignore numbers I don't recognize and half the time they leave a hangup message. The upset for me is around my number being so widely available to people I don't want calling me.

landlines are a different story especially if you don't have caller ID, but a lot of folks seem to be complaining about getting cellphone calls all the time from the same number. I see from mckennl's comment that some people go digging for their phones when they ring, but I've got this "hardly ever answer" policy that keeps me from having to do that.

I guess if people actually are used to answering their phones it could get annoying, but I hit ignore 9 times out of 10. I thought that was routine if you had a cell.
