In case you hadn't seen this announcement on facebook, I have put together a little ditty. Well sort of. I've done as much on it as I think I can do today or at least I need to take a break and that often means running the risk of falling asleep.

But you can find what I've done so far at macidol.com/jamroom/eriktrips. I think eriktrips will do for a "band" name for now. If I start doing a lot of this sort of thing maybe I'll think of something else. Or maybe I'll just be eriktrips.

But so anyway. Go. Listen.

It doesn't have vocals yet but it will. GarageBand allows multitracking out the wazoo so I've been working on getting my three kick drum tracks to pull together and stuff.

Thank you! I need to get myself on a daytime schedule long enough to record some vocals. Probably shouldn't sing in the middle of the night with people sleeping all around!

This is great Erik! I need to try this. I am not saying my results will be so splendid, but what the heck. I guess you do this with Garageband, which I need to figure out.

Congrats and keep at it.

I'm having a great time with it and it keeps me busy and off the streets. :)

GarageBand is a really cool application but although it is designed to be intuitive, it isn't really if you are used to working with menus, because most of the more powerful functions aren't available from the menus but from clicking on things in the GUI.

The Safari website has a good book explaining GarageBand and the book won't take months to read like some computer books; I finished it in a couple of days and it was very helpful. If you have a SF Public Library card number and PIN, you can access it here:
GarageBand ’09 Power!: The Comprehensive Recording and Podcasting Guide

If you don't have a library card, you should get one if only for the online resources it will open to you. Research. Online. At home. It's so much easier than that old card catalog business we had to use in high school!

OK I'll stop talking like an advertisement now. :)
