being told on

i've been asked to read my poetry at a series run by the english dept at school. i didn't think i had told anyone at school that i wrote poetry but my professor somehow found out and she told the person organizing it who asked me if i wanted to read and i said well sure what the hell.

this person has never read my work as far as i know so i don't think the selection process must be very strict.

i feel about my poetry pretty much how i felt about my academic 'work' before i was an academic. which is to say that it is this private thing i do in my room with the door closed and i have no idea what its relation might be to what anyone else is doing. so i am a little nervous but also a little excited but also a little nervous.

i'm wondering should i write something special or should i read from one of the long things i've been writing. or should i add a special section to one of those long things and read that.

or maybe i will just stand up there and say

faucet. have i said that before?
