way behind in the poem count but on the other hand rock paper is coming along nicely.

this evening's installment:

humidity drove me to it. sweat incrementally from forehead to chin. damned to spin and in that one rocking chair we did battle. I don't remember what time it was because time was bigger then.

I forgot what I was going to say. looking simultaneously for a precedent and a way to describe the chair in the sun beside the dog chained up. an ache briefly noted for future use. you see we'll have to take another stab.

it is not that I don't know how to say it but that certain exigencies take their toll. extract on the one hand the critical moment of what happened to whom and why and on the other the bare minimal conditions for each. simply stated he yearned for the baroque.

the geese on the hood in the rain. a smidgen too near to brook any irony in the telling. should you climb out onto the roof. at once steady and fearful I looked up. a dip in the pool but there you are. unschooled we talked to ourselves of the rule of kings. any fool can claim as much.

was it all too easy. one would think but get caught there. dash one off if you must.

I trust most those things which rust and crumble at the selvaged crust. will that do.

my ears are too low.

the eyes don't have it anymore

when my dad was about 40 I used to notice that he would tilt his glasses up to watch TV and remove them altogether to read.

so I'm right on schedule with the nearsightedness getting worse and the farsightedness suddenly springing up. I can no longer make out print at a distance of less than eight inches. I don't want bifocals. besides which I can't afford to go to the optometrist until fall. guess I'll be tilting and removing for a few months.

there.

my books are alphabetized. I was going to count them to see how many I have but I kept losing count and gave up. judging by the total volume I'd say I must have close to 400. if I read one a day I could be through them all in less than a year and a half!

there was no dividing them by category. they are ordered by author, straight out. literature and philosophy and poetry and history keeping indecent company. although my comic strip books and music books and art history books were already segregated so they at least are disciplined. and it occurs to me that I neglected to figure them in my estimate so I'd say I have at least 550 books.

it is somewhat depressing to know that even though there are many I would like to read again I may never get back to them. especially if I keep obtaining more.

then of course there are the many I haven't read yet but worked so hard to acquire while I was studying for my exams. I think that part of my passing had to do with my efficiency at locating and purchasing books.

I have carried seven bags of garbage out of my room. it is somewhat surprising that seven bags of anything would fit in here but I did pick up approximately nine more cubic feet in which to move around so I guess that was the space the garbage was taking up.

now what.
