while counting my whiskers in the mirror just now (I still do this but I don't think I'm that different from other males whose puberty started just a few years ago. am I?) I remembered that I had the Moustache Dream this morning wherein I suddenly realize I have neglected to shave for a month and subsequently discover that I've grown a luxuriously full moustache and I think to myself 'finally! I never thought this would happen!'
it hasn't happened yet.
and lest you think it unbearably slothful of me to be counting my whiskers at 1:30 on a Monday afternoon, I am now going to look at books and decide what to teach. if it helps, I'm broke.
trying to figure out how to structure a semester with only two class meetings a week can be inordinately difficult. given that we have 1/3 fewer meetings than a MWF class, how do I get them to do 1-1/2 times as much preparation for each meeting? we do have 80 minutes at a pop instead of 50, but will they revolt when I ask them not only to turn in a paper but also do some reading for one and the same day? or worse--will they just not do the reading and meet attempts at discussion with blank stares?
in any case the number of authors is down to five plus a textbook with short essays in it. The textbook better deliver.
