"taking" the condor

from the email this morning, a notice that the US Fish and Wildlife Service is considering allowing california condors to be "controlled" in the interests of development. although Defenders of Wildlife seems to be gearing this campaign towards CA residents, I think the recovery and survival of the condor to be a national concern. am having a hard time figuring out what rationale could possibly be given to allow them to be killed or otherwise harassed, since their population is still precipitously thin and so much effort went into bringing the species back from the brink of extinction.

here is the email:

ok that wasn't so bad

I profess to hate the kind of "quiz" where you enter your username and it generates some random answer, but I always take them when they appear. I cannot account for why I do this.

in any case, this is the first interesting result I have gotten from one of these things.

in other news

I have reserved a car for myself today between 3 and 8pm. I'm not sure where I'm going to go for five hours although I do have a few things planned for the first couple. I haven't taken a driving daytrip in a while and I think it is time to do something I like besides sit here on the interweb. am trying new ways to be nice to myself.

first it's bestbuy for an itrip so I can play my ipod over the car radio.

here is where the anxiety begins: what will happen to the house and the creatures and things in it while I am out joyriding? will they be ok? will anything happen? what if they need me and I'm not there?

I could never have children.

the real thing

you should drop what you are doing and go to my illegal mp3 page and download Sixteen Horsepower's cover of "Day of the Lords."

there are a couple of other good ones there too. this is that christian band which annoys me terribly with its dark apocalyptic vision but seduces me with the same thing.
