unionYES

I choo choo choose you

so I was the sixth voter at my polling place this morning, having walked around the block once at 6:30 to see if there was a line, not seeing one, returning home to wait 20 minutes, then going back to get in the modest line that was growing fairly rapidly by 7, when the polls opened. our lead pollworker is always the same person. she knows what she's doing. even opened the doors two minutes early and shouted "the polls are now open!" I guess that's the official routine.

yes I voted for obama and I voted no on proposition 8 and I also voted to decriminalize prostitution but I changed my mind about naming the sewage treatment plant for GWB. it was a funny joke when it started, but I'd prefer not to have his name on anything around here, especially not a state-of-the-art facility that is supposed to be very environmentally friendly, or as friendly as sewage treatment can get. besides, can you imagine having to work at a place named after him? how awful. his name would be on your ID badge and on the softball team's jerseys and on the stationery.

soon I will fall into bed. I had an adrenaline rush at the polls, but it's dissipated and now I am very sleepy. I have to be up by 5pm to go see my md at 6:30. then I'll probably nap a little and decide how far from or close to election news I want to be. tonight? who knows what will happen tonight. I've been worried about this day and night for, like, four years.

I think I need to go get some fizzy water before I sleep. not that I drink in my sleep, but I often wake up with a parched mouth because if I turn over onto my back it gapes open and dries out. I've been told I make loud noises when that happens, too, but it never wakes me up. :)

ok. up, out, then home, jammies, bed. 1 2 3.
