i wasn't too tired to do this.

lately i have been pondering reintroducing standard capitalization into my writing. as it now stands, i capitalize people's names always, names of countries and cities sometimes, and "i" and the first words of sentences never. mostly i do this because i never really learned to type capital letters smoothly, so leaving them out keeps my train of thought from crashing, but i also am undecided over the rhetorical status of the capital. Is it Authoritative or simply a convention to aid reading? Would an "I" be overbearing or simply the taking up of proper self-esteem (and you can guess that i have big problems with propriety and selfhood but it occurs to me that "I" can't effect its own authority no matter how big it gets so why not capitalize while glorying in the futility of it all)?

What do you think? Please answer my poll unless you can't be bothered with these stupid LJ rituals.
