sun runs amok

I'm not entirely sure why this pattern of only 8 - 9 hours of sleep has stayed with me but it seems that the early sunrise of summer might have something to do with it although last year at this time I was gleefully slumbering from 6am-noon with very little problem.

at one and the same time I am being provided with ample morning hours in which to work and ample evening hours in which to fret. last night I put on a bunch of new cds and sat and did nothing but listen to music for four hours until about 9:30. it helped. in so doing I discovered Sufjan Stevens' Greetings from Michigan and TV on the Radio's Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes. both very very interesting. will describe, perhaps, later. the second one is available on iTunes: try "Staring at the Sun" first.

so I promised myself I would finish the grading today. am undecided whether to start here and then go to school or just go to school and lock myself in some office or other until I am finished. I don't really want to do either but am trying to imagine myself at the end of the day thinking I'm done! I'm done! besides the longer I put this off the shorter my summer will be. must remember that for those of us on the semester system summer ends the third week of August.

morning.
