I was already thinking I would go to bed early and get up early and get on the road before the weekend drivers have a chance to muck it all up and then I called S to see how things were going and when she was coming back from the protest and apparently Santiago has gone missing.

it isn't her fault, I don't think: she slipped on the steps on Monday and hit her head and had to call the EMTs and the front door was open for a time and she thinks she may not have seen Santiago since then. Jackson she catches a glimpse of every now and again as he runs away from her but no Santiago.

if he got out he probably didn't get far but the courtyard in front and the buildings on each side of it harbor a nearly infinite number of cubby holes and hiding places big enough for a small cat but not big enough for a big human to go in to take a look. S has been visiting the pound every day and I just registered with which is an online search engine for lost pets.

I guess I will be turning the courtyard upsidedown when I get back.
