takings

my owl must have had a good night. I've recovered two intact mouse skulls and two more upper jawbones and I'm only halfway through the pellet. I got tired of bending over peering at the plate in the bad kitchen light and will try to finish tomorrow before sundown. mouse vertebrae? exquisitely small.

santiago found what I was doing very very very interesting.

owl digestive systems seem very good at leaving only fur and bones. either that or whatever else is left is indistinguishable by the time it comes back up.

it smells very earthy. mmmmm decaying organic matter. I believe it was the smell that intrigued the cat.

what am I going to do with these skulls? the tiny leg bones and other straight bones could easily be sealed over on a flat surface but skulls present an extra dimension to worry with.
