time, flying

the interesting thing about writing this disseration is that I can pump out a few paragraphs, wonder why my brain is beginning to fade, and then look at the clock to see that two hours have passed.

I guess that's why no one writes for hours and hours unless they have a very specific story in mind. I mean the story I'm doing is specific but every little textual moment arrives first in uncertainty and only after being written out gains confidence in its place in the whole. I keep thinking that if I write about a particular aspect of my subject I will get lost and never be able to find my way back to the main point. I wonder if this necessarily would be a fault.

I need more coffee to think about this.
