on the other hand

dear erik,

i read your dissertation chapters and enjoyed them very much. they are beautifully written and quite engaging. i've made some comments along the side which, hopefully, you can read. and i'll leave them in your box in rhetoric today or tomorrow. i hope all is going well. this is a clearly promising project, extremely well-done.

best,
judith

well so there is this one thing I can do without undue fear and loathing. it may be that I need and agent and/or a publisher more than anything.

pretty cool, huh?

is it cynical of me to just want to see the cash?

actually that's not true. this message was very welcome and helpful. I do think I will ask her for ideas as to how to publish it once it's done.

Yes, ask her about publishing, once it's all done. She's bound to have some decent feedback. As someone who has had an agent, and gotten money out of the commercial world of publishing I can talk to you about my experiences someday. (over that fabled cup of coffee or whatever) ---

It isn't completely what it's cracked up to be, but nothing in the world beats holding your own book in your hand.

Congrats on the positive feedback!!! : )
