with cats of course, they see the syringe and go running the other way. jackson just had his first taste of zithromax which announces itself as cherry flavored. unfortunately, cats prefer things that taste like insects.
insect-flavored antibiotics. I think I see a market.
you know I never liked children's antibiotics either. the cherry or bubblegum flavor always seemed an inadequate mask for the bitterness of the medicine itself. I probably would have done better if they'd made them coca-cola flavored.
the odd thing is that drug manufacturers who produce a completely separate line of drugs for animals still flavor them with cherry, bubblegum, or banana. I suppose maybe dogs like those ok, but with dogs you usually prescribe capsules and instruct the owners to wrap cheese around them if they have difficulty otherwise shoving them down the animal's throat. antibiotic suspensions tend to be a low concentration that is only practical for smaller animals.
I wonder if I should write to pfizer and schering and all those people. I wonder how you make something insect flavored without, say, grinding up a bunch of bugs.
