jackson doesn't think so

I had written a long post about usf classes being over and me feeling a little depressed and anxious about my impending trip and then musing that I needed to learn not to worry so much and just let life happen the way it happens and I fell asleep before it was finished and kept adding long lines of eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee's and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa's but I woke up and erased all those but then went and made a bowl of cereal and came back to jackson sitting on the laptop keyboard and the post consisting of this:

all the apple-z's in the world couldn't get it back. I guess he was unimpressed. I'm going to bed.

"anxious about my impending trip"

well part of me is worried about money although I'd probably spend more if I stayed home but mainly I always worry when I leave home. I worry about leaving home for the time it takes me to teach in the evenings. I worry about leaving home if I go out for a drink with someone at night. I worry about the cats being ok and my stuff being where I left it. I am an agoraphobe in the making, I guess, and of course I worry about the details too like will everything fit in my new backpack and will it be too heavy to carry then and will I have enough wicking underwear to wick the gallons of sweat it will cost me to walk anywhere during the day even though it is winter and I worry how I will carry enough water to last a day or two if I go backcountry hiking and I worry about finding water if I need more and I worry about how to dispose of my own waste far from a pit toilet and all these things I haven't tried yet about camping and hiking.

on the other hand I've always wanted to learn backpacking and to wean myself from car camping so this seems a good time and place. I'm familiar with the area and winter is a low-risk time to visit the desert.
